Fulton Turkey Tail in Flint Ridge Flint with Ohio Display Base

This Fulton Turkey Tail is handcrafted from Flint Ridge Flint, a remarkable stone sourced from Ohio and recognized as the state’s official gemstone. The material is admired for its vivid colors, translucency, and intricate natural patterns. In this piece, glowing shades of red and orange frame a dramatic blue-gray center with delicate veining, creating a striking contrast that changes subtly as the light moves across the surface.

The broad Fulton Turkey Tail form provides an ideal canvas for showcasing the stone’s natural beauty. Measuring approximately 7 inches long, the spear point displays graceful proportions and a balanced silhouette. The translucent edges appear almost illuminated in natural light, emphasizing the depth and complexity within the Flint Ridge material.

Joel Robinson personally crafts each artwork using traditional flintknapping techniques. Through controlled percussion and pressure flaking, the stone is gradually refined into its final shape. The flake scars visible across the surface are a lasting record of the craftsmanship involved and highlight the precision required to shape such a delicate and visually dynamic material.

The spear point is mounted in genuine white-tailed deer antler and displayed on a matching slab of Flint Ridge Flint cut into the shape of Ohio. This custom presentation honors the stone’s origin while adding a sculptural quality that elevates the entire piece beyond a traditional spear point display.

The work is individually created rather than mass-produced. Each artwork is individually created, allowing the natural patterns, colors, and character of the stone to guide the final design.

Collectors appreciate Flint Ridge Flint for its beauty, rarity, and connection to Ohio’s natural heritage. Combined with the classic Fulton Turkey Tail form and custom Ohio display base, this one-of-a-kind collectible artwork makes a distinctive addition to galleries, private collections, offices, and home display.
