This Deep Notch Lost Lake Spear Point is handcrafted from Flint Ridge Flint, a stone sourced from Ohio and prized for its natural beauty and varied color palette. Natural variations in color and texture make every section of the blade unique.
Measuring approximately 5 inches long and 3 inches wide, the spear point features the broad proportions and dramatic deep side notches characteristic of the Lost Lake style. The sweeping profile and balanced symmetry create an impressive visual presence while allowing the natural qualities of the stone to take center stage.
Joel Robinson personally crafts each artwork using traditional flintknapping techniques. Through carefully controlled percussion and pressure flaking, the stone is gradually refined into its final shape. The large flake scars visible across the surface remain an essential part of the artwork, preserving the evidence of the handwork involved in its creation.
The work is individually created rather than mass-produced. Each piece develops naturally as the stone reveals its own patterns and colors, ensuring that every artwork remains truly one of a kind.
Collectors appreciate Flint Ridge Flint for its beauty, translucency, and connection to Ohio’s rich flintknapping tradition.
